Breckenridge Snow Sculpture 2026

Mon 02 February 2026

I mentioned the international snow sculpture event was upcoming in Breckenridge at the end January and Grace told me she had never been. We planned on a Monday night/Tuesday morning to view them. Be retired means we can do this on a weekday and avoid the weekend snow traffic. However, this has been such a bad snow year for the resort, we likely could have done the weekend anyway.

We stayed in Frisco at the Summit Inn. A reasonable option, and the area as a free shuttle bus service between the cities to support tourism. Because it was Monday night, we decided to dry up to Breck and park there. The city site said parking was free after 5pm, but it was unclear when we got there if we had to pay the $0.50/hour after 3pm fee. The meters had no mention of this 'after 5pm' option.

We viewed the sculptures. This is toward the end of the 1 week viewing period and several had already melted/collapsed. We found out that at least one had collaspe issue before the judging. It has been very dry and very warm up there this winter.

We ate dinner in Breck and returned to the Summit Inn to watch the last of the Avs-Red Wings game. That was disappointing. Tuesday we had a good brunch at the Bread+Salt in downtown Frisco and did some shopping at the Outlet Malls in Silverthorne.
