Smithsonian Air and Space Museum

During the DC trip with Rick we visited the Smithsonian museums. The Air and Space museum was fantasic, even though half the exhibit space is temporarily closed for improvments.

We got to see the exhibit on the Wright bros and early flight. The NASA exhibit on the moon exploration was also fantastic.

They have a good 'nod' to science fiction with their exhibits with a model X-Wing fighter from Star Wars and in the main foyer a large, original, model from Star Trek. Models had to be used before the days of CGI. The enterprise, from this angle shows the wiring that had to be done for lighting the ship. That is why in all the original episodes you only saw the Enterprise from the same angle; to high the external wiring.
